Travel students welcomed to London Southend Airport
London Southend Airport takes local travel and tourism college students, from USP, behind the scenes into the heart of the operation. Students completing both level 2 and 3 of their Travel and Tourism course attended this educational event offering a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes and speak to airport staff.
The tour began with students checking in with their ticket to ‘Amsterdam’. The realistic passenger experience then took them through central search where they experienced the new CTiX lane technology and covered the importance of vital airport security responsibilities.
The students then went onto departures to see first-hand the new, enhanced hold baggage system.
Leanne Dubovie, Travel and Tourism Teacher, “The students had a fantastic day, it was an amazing opportunity for them to see a range of roles and responsibilities within an airport whilst getting hands on with some of the enhanced technology that will reduce passenger processing time. The students felt inspired, huge thanks to London Southend Airport and their dedicated team”.
The USP course is ideal for students seeking employment within the Travel and Tourism industry. It covers a range of areas within the industry from the importance of Customer Service, to learning about destinations around the world and how customers are affected by travelling across different time zones.
