One of the quickest and smoothest ways to get to and from London is by train, from the modern, purpose-built train station just 100 paces from the terminal. With up to six services an hour during peak times, and easy connections to the tube network, you’ll be whisked into the City in under an hour, and to Stratford in even less.
Planned engineering works
There will be planned engineering works taking place on the following dates and locations. Please note this may cause disruption to your journey. Rail replacement buses will be operating - visit Greater Anglia.
Southend to Shenfield – January 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, 30th, 31st and February 6th, 7th, 21st.
Stratford to Shenfield – March 27th, 28th.
The works taking place during January and February are crossing improvement works.
The work in March is a switch and crossing renewal at Gidea Park.

Extra train services
We’re pleased to announce a new agreement with Greater Anglia that will see extra train services, allowing passengers to easily connect to early morning and late evening flights.
Greater Anglia will be running an extra service, Monday to Saturday mornings, from Liverpool Street, departing at around 04.30, dependent on the day, to connect with early morning outbound flights.
There will also be an additional late-night service, Sunday to Friday nights, from the airport to Liverpool Street, departing 23.59, for passengers landing later in the evening that need quick and easy access to London.

To/from London Liverpool Street Station: 52 minutes
To/from Stratford Station: 44 minutes
Tickets and timetables
It is quick and easy to purchase your tickets on arrival. Purchase your tickets from: Ticket vending machines at arrivals (opposite Costa), the station's ticket vending machines or the manned ticket office.
Off-peak single fares start at £14.50 to Stratford and £17.80 to Liverpool Street, with discounts for railcards, travelcards and groups.
The ticket office is manned every day from 06.00-23.00 including bank holidays.

Connecting to London Underground
To connect to the tube in London, please change at Stratford for London Overground, Central Line, DLR and Jubilee Line, or at London Liverpool Street for the Hammersmith & City Line, Circle Line, Metropolitan Line and Central Line.

Is London Southend Airport in the oyster/contactless zone?
No the oyster/contactless zone ends at Shenfield, where a valid ticket will be required to continue your journey to the airport.
Can I use my freedom pass to and from the airport?
The freedom pass is only valid within the London zones; an extension ticket will be required from the boundary zone to the Airport.
Is special assistance available at Southend Airport Railway Station?
Yes, our pledge is to make our airport accessible to all, we will do our best to assist with your needs, we have 24 hour customer service assistants that will be available at the station, please be advised that Greater Anglia operate the trains that service the airport, and you will be required to pre book special assistance 12 hours in advance for other stations on the network that you will be travelling from/to, please see below.
