Preparing for check in
All you need to know about when to arrive and where to go
We’ve made it quick and easy to check in at London Southend Airport. Whether you check in online or in person, we won’t keep you hanging around.
Check-in with ease
Our dedicated check-in area has ten desks to help whisk you to your destination in no time. To find the right desk, just look for the airline logo on the screen above the desk. To save time at check-in, it helps to have your tickets or booking confirmation and passport ready.
When it comes to packing hand luggage, please try to make sure your bag only contains your valuables and things you’ll need during your journey.
If you’ve checked in online and only have hand luggage, it’s even easier. Just head straight for security, via the escalator adjacent to check-in. From there, it’s just a short walk along the balcony.
When to arrive at the airport? Our advice is to arrive at least two hours before your scheduled time of departure
Also, before you fly check your ticket or booking confirmation for your airline’s check-in advice. If you need to check-in in person, or if you’ve got bags to drop off, it’s a good idea to arrive at least two hours before your departure time.
Depending on the airline you’re flying with, check in normally closes between 30 and 40 minutes before departure, so please arrive in plenty of time. Boarding normally begins around 40 minutes before departure.
To get the most from your time with us at London Southend Airport, it’s best to head straight to security and into the departure lounge as soon as you’ve checked in or dropped-off your bags.
Our terminal building is open between 4am and midnight.
As each airline has its own approach to online check-in, it’s best to check with them in advance to find out what you need to do.
