Tan-seeker’s haven with year-round sun
Spain’s tallest peak isn’t on the Spanish mainland at all – it’s on Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic a few hundred miles off the coast of Morocco. Year-round sun, modern resorts like Playa de las Americas, plentiful golden (and volcanic black) beaches and the dominant summit of Mount Tiede draw Brits in their droves every year. Visitors for late winter sun are also treated to the Carnaval de Santa Cruz every year just before Lent – a traditional street festival with all the trimmings.
